HCG is a hormone used medically to support fertility, hormone balance, and testosterone production in men and women.
Overview
HCG is a naturally occurring hormone produced during pregnancy that helps maintain progesterone levels and support fetal development. In medical treatments, synthetic HCG is used in fertility therapies to induce ovulation in women and stimulate sperm production in men.
Beyond reproductive uses, HCG is also prescribed in hormone replacement therapies to maintain natural testosterone levels, especially during or after anabolic steroid cycles. It signals the testes to continue producing testosterone, preventing testicular shrinkage and hormonal imbalances.
Research
Clinical studies support the use of HCG in treating infertility and hypogonadism. In women, it’s used alongside other medications in assisted reproductive treatments to trigger egg release. In men, it is shown to significantly improve sperm count and restore hormonal function.
HCG has also gained attention in weight loss protocols, though its effectiveness in that area remains debated. While some reports suggest it may support fat loss when combined with calorie restriction, scientific evidence does not strongly support HCG for standalone weight loss therapy.
